.Web Technology
Further Insight

Introduction
B-ware DocSys.Web is based on B-ware's .Web technology (spoken: dot Web). It is a modern internet technology with which you are able to develop web-applications in a simple, structured way. The .Web technology is based fully on a web-browser, it is not related to any Microsoft.NET technology.

Browser Requirements
The .Web technology can be used with Internet Explorer 5.5 (or newer IE browsers).

Feautures .Web technology
The Following functionalities are supported by .Web Framework:

Look and Feel of a Desktop-Application
The application appears as a desktop application. Users do not know that they are actually working with a web-based application. Standard desktop application keyboard functionalities, like shortcuts and accelerators, work also for the web-based application.

XML Technology
The .Web technology is based on the XML standard as prescribed by W3C. It is an easy to understand and flexible technology.
W3C: http://www.w3.org/

Minimum Network Traffic
The use of the internet technology enables the client to pick up parts of a web page, such as service elements and scripts, only once from the server. These parts will already be stored in the client's cache the next time he uses the web-application. They do not need to be loaded again. Standard compression techniques reduce the network traffic to a minimum.
The B-ware DocSys.Web application needs only 300kb!

Control Elements
The .Web technology contains an extensive set of control elements which help to create rapidly and easily a user-interface. The following control elements are always included: Toolbars (Bands), TreeView, ListView, TabStrip, Combo, Calender and so on

Company Wide Installation
Because the .web technology uses Internet Explorer, a company wide installation can be achieved without any loss of time by clicking on an internet link. A web server placed centrally in an organisation is sufficient to provide every single user with the application (by means of URL or shortcut). Updates are also easily carried out within a short time.

Zero Interference Installation (Optional)
If the need of system files arise, the .web technology can be used in order to update files on the client PC safely, securely and without the user noticing it. The system manager does not need to be involved. See the next chapter for more information on this.

NT/2000 Integration
The mutation of data on the web server can only be executed by authorized persons. The authentication of the authorized user happens automatically, if the user has already been registered for an application in Windows. Annoying login-windows are avoided.

Offline Usage
A network connection is not necessary in order to make the .web technolgy work. By synchronising files with the client PC, they can be made available locally without connection to the web server and then be used at a later stage.

BWScript
The script to be used in combiantion with the .web technology is encrypted. The encryption makes sure the programme cannot be adapted by third parties. As the .Web technology can also be used offline, misuse is impossible. The encryption concerns only scripting and has no influence on the mutation of data on a web server.

B-ware DocSys.Web Features
B-ware DocSys.Web is based on the .Web technology, that gives the possibility to make use of the unique points of the technology within B-ware DocSys.web.

The installation of B-ware DocSys.web includes the following elements:

Zero Interference Installation
B-ware DocSys.Web uses the zero interference installation in .Web. The programme needs extra system files to integrate with Microsoft Office (toolbar, re-open documents, etc.).

No Installation Rights for Client
The installation functions just like Microsoft's SMS and Group Policy Work. The user does not have to be a super user or administrator. If the web-application concludes that no extra system files are needed (or these have to be updated), the installation will run from an authorised account.

Certified Files!
The client PC allowes to install certified files only. The official certificate of a file serves as a signature and has to be available in order to place them on the client PC. No abuse of the installation technique is possible.
